A FEW OF THE ITEMS WE WANT...
| BLINKERS Goodnight Blinkers (Extremely rare 1967 UK solid centre
private press 7" vinyl single, also including Hello Blinkers. This 7" was
reportedly penned by Graham Gouldman at the request of Tom
McHugh, the manager of the club, for use as a theme tune. Recorded
at Strawberry Studio, this disk also features Lol Creme & Kevin
Godley, although no credits are given on the disc itself. The 'Blinkers'
club was an exclusive 'A' list celebrity watering hole during the sixties
in Manchesterthat George Best liked so much that he bought the
building above it to turn into a boutique. The discs were only available
to people that frequented the club, either to buy or as gifts, and very
very few have survived the last forty five years. This particular copy
was purchased directly from Tom McHugh himself & is accompanied
by a 5" x 6" original invite to his Birthday Party on January 12th where
the disc was debuted. This disc has now become legendary among
Graham Gouldman and 10c.c. collectors for even pre-dating Frabjoy &
Runcible Spoon as a record of the band's history. This copy is one of
just a few that we know of that have survived. Although there may be
a few more lost in some Mancunian attic, we somehow doubt it. This
was an exclusive to the Club, only likely to be picked up by 'A' list
celebrities & therefore unlikely to be treated with the reverance it is
due as a piece of modern musical history. This copy has certainly
been played and may indeed have been the very copy that ushered
the guests into that Birthday Party forty five years ago. It was
obviously not pressed in a premium pressing plant either, but it is
what it is. The vinyl would realistically be graded VG as it shows a
degree of surface scuffing but plays through without fault and with an
astonishing lack of any seriously obtrusive surface noise. It is
suspected that the A-Side vocals are sung by Kevin Godley & the
faster B-Side by Lol Creme. As a piece of music history, it is rare. As
a piece of 10c.c. history, it is rare. As a piece of Graham Gouldman
songwriting, it is rare. As a piece of sixties 7" plastic, it is rare. You
get the picture. We've never even been close to having one of these
before in thirty years of scouring the world for vinyl gems, we may
get another one in thirty years time but it won't have the invite or the
provenance. If you are thinking twice about this, decide quickly as we
are unlikely to get another before I'm pushing up daisies!)

Hello Blinkers
Yes, I would have thought that it made more sense to have 'Hello' on Side 1 & 'Goodbye' on Side 2, but this is the way round it is! | | BLINKERS Goodnight Blinkers (Extremely rare 1967 UK solid centre
