This is a very low mileage example acquired from one fastidious owner of a collection of mouthwatering Rock, Prog & Psych gems, all bought from new on release during his teenage years. To find this record at all is becoming nigh on impossible. This is the first time we've stocked it or even seen one!
The gatefold sleeve has a matt finish with all text clearly legible & the artwork unblemished & stunning looking. There are a couple of small horizontal thumbnail tears at the back opening from handling but these are no more than 1" & not seen from the front. The sleeve is otherwise in Excellent condition with no other blemishes.
The matrices in the run-outs are machine stamped thus:
847904 1Y//1>420 1 1 3
847904 2Y//1>420 1 1 7
The labels show no spindle marks & are 'as new'. The vinyl itself is clean & appears just as it would have the day of purchase. Truly remarkable!
An investment grade item; but don't hold your breath on us finding another one of these any time soon!.... | | CRESSIDA Asylum (OK here we go with a real monster of a rarity, this
is the original 1971 German Vertigo Swirl vinyl LP in a condition that
quite frankly is astonishing. The vinyl appears to have hardly graced a
turntable with the gatefold sleevein a bright condition which has been
stored by a dedicated collector for over thirty five years. You will
NEVER find a copy in better condition, so this is your chance to own
this Art Rock classic, a blend of McCartney-esque vocals &
symphonicprogressive Rock filled with adventurous instrumental
sections) **See More Info For Further Details**
Tracklisting: Cressida's Asylum is a fantastic example of early British symphonic Progressive Rock. It marries catchy Paul McCartney-esque vocals with adventurous instrumental sections. Superb vocal melodies regarded as some of the best from the Prog era coupled with charmingly naive lyrics
The instrumental sections have it's origins in the style typical of early '70s Prog Rock with the music driven by a dirty and mellow Hammond organ with classic piano, bass, guitar and drums. At times this sound was augmented with a small orchestra with violins, cellos, trumpets & timpani.
The first side of the album has a theme based on it's title with the second side featuring a couple of short filler tracks ending with a triumphant epic.
Widely regarded as the best album to come out of that school of early British symphonic Prog. This is beautiful, melancholic and mostly mellow and atmospheric. There is quite simply a British charm that blends it's morose charm with lovely orchestral Mellotron sounds that appear throughout the album.
If three words could describe this album then they would graceful, sublime and classic.
CONDITION
As previously stated the condition of this album is amazing with the large Vertigo Swirl label in an near unused condition with NO spindle marks to indicate play. The vinyl is equally brilliant with a bright shine that is hard to find on a two year old album, never mind a forty year old copy.
The sleeve is almost as good with only miniscule marks on the sleeve opening, with no creasing or marks that are usually evident on this issue. The spine is intact with no marks or crushing.
It's hefty price tag quite frankly reflects the quality of this issue which would be almost impossible to find again as good as this. This is the ONE.
Oh, and did I tell you it was near mint & German Issue!!??

Condition :-
This record does not get any easier to find & is one we constantly search for but barely ever see. Due to its matt finish, the gatefold sleeve has picked up some edge wear scuffing through the years but nothing that upsets the main print. There are a some minor cosmetic blemishes in a few areas. On the inside, there is a small & thin line tear that does not upset the print. There is some faint ring wear to the back panel & no writing. Some sticker residue has left its mark on the front in the top right corner. The swirl inner is present & correct with no writing. Overall we would grade the cover VG due to the conditions highlighted, but it remains a very presentable & a VERY hard to obtain example.
Labels: -
These are the first & most desirable large 'swirl' labels with machine stamped 1Y1/2Y1 matrices in the run-offs. There is just a tiny spot of spindle wear to indicate play.
Vinyl : -
The quality of the vinyl is outstanding. Upon play testing, there is no distortion or any interference. The vinyl is very clean & impressive looking, with no hairlines or scratches. We would grade the vinyl an extremely pleasing "Excellent". This LP now fetches a four figure sum when mint [good luck finding one of them!]... This is a beautiful, if not mint, example that comes highly recommended. | | CRESSIDA Cressida (Monster rare & never before stocked 1970
