A FEW OF THE ITEMS WE WANT...
| DNV Mafia/Death In Venice (Rare 1979 UK original New Pleasures
3-track 7" single, the second release on this independent label and the
one and only release credited to DNV, which comprised Mike Scott,
Allan McConnel, Wart Clog and Ian Walter Greig. Recorded live, first
takes with no overdubs, within 8 minutes at John Gould Studios, Ayr.
Remixed by Velvet Lanier, 30/7/79. The vinyl is stone MINT,but the delicate fold-out sleeve has creases and minor tears to the top edge, and a 2" seam split at the bottom. See 'more info' for details...)
Tracklisting: 1. Mafia (Tapper Zukie)
2. Goodbye 1970's (a rough piano instrumental by M.Scott)
3. Death In Venice (Mike Scott)
This obscure early single is a very rare find today. Most copies are safely tucked away in Waterboys collections and Mike Scott continues to enjoy an enduring appeal amongst his fans and peers.
The delicate paper fold-out sleeve is prone to wear and this one, sadly, is no exception. The simple black & white print is unfaded, even after 28+ years. The sleeve itself folds out to reveal a beach-scene poster image. The reverse side conatins the front image, back sleeve credits with mugshot photos of each band member, song lyrics and an amusing message from the sleeve's printer.
Creases are apparent & visible along teh fold lines, largely due to it being kept folded for most of its life. The thin paper top edge of the front cover has visible creases along its length, and there is one small tear above the D of the DNV title print. The bottom edge of the back cover, which is essentailly a fold, has a 2" seam split.
Thankfully the vinyl is MINT - the label does not even show a single spindle mark around its centre. | | DNV Mafia/Death In Venice (Rare 1979 UK original New Pleasures
