A FEW OF THE ITEMS WE WANT...

JAMES DEAN A Tribute To James Dean (Rare 1977 Japanese 11-track white label promotional sample vinyl LP featuring a collection of excerpts from James' three greatest performances in 'Giant', 'East Of Eden' and 'Rebel Without A Cause', plus a Bonus 2-track 7" vinyl single including the themes from 'East Of Eden' & 'Rebel Without A Cause' with Japanese text / picture insert, housed together in a back pasted card picture sleeve complete with insert sheet, CBS label card + obi-strip. The sleeve shows minimal storagewear and the both vinyl discs remain in MINT condition! 25AP-804)
JAMES DEAN Dean's Lament (Extremely rare 1957 UK double sided 7" metal based high grade methyl cellulose lacquer acetate for the limited single release, with custom Sapphire manufacturing labels with printed song titles. Features the iconic actor on conga drums in a privately recorded ad-lib jam, as he talks & relaxes with friends, Bob Romeo & Duke Mitchell. Also includes 'Jungle Rhythm'. Very few of these are ever produced, mostly for in-studio sonic reference or for private use.The disc reveals only the lightest spot of cosmetic wear or faint scuffs & would make for a treasured collectable for the James Dean fan)

Tracklisting: An acetate is normally a transitional stage between the master tape and the finished vinyl record but were occasionally used for a songwriter to convey a song idea to a band or person. Originally acetates were used for home recording in the days before tape recorders, but since the advent of cassette tape & CDR are now no longer used for providing bands & their entourage copies of today's studio efforts. A machine actually cuts the grooves into the acetate like a lathe. The acetate is used to assess whether the music has been successfully transferred to disc. It is checked by the sound engineer. There may be only one copy made of a particular recording, sometimes more are cut and sent to the studio and band members for approval. The acetate comes before making the master, and allows the sound to be checked without great expense. It is unusual for more than a dozen to be manufactured, so from the collector's point of view an acetate is a rare find indeed! If the recording is rejected the acetate may be the only record that survives. The rejected cut may simply be poor quality, however the artist may have opted to use a different take of the song, if so, the acetate becomes much more precious. An incredible find & certainly one of only a handful that would have been produced.
