AA-side 7" vinyl single comprising of 'Test' which feels like zephyr on
a summer's day, locked down by wondrous echo chamber effects
[somewhat of a LD trademark], this gem bubbles alongwith a solid
b-line and leftfield twists and charms that make it seem flawlessly new
and special whilst 'Twice' comes from the opposite end of the Little
Dragon spectrum; breathtaking in its simplicity, this minor-key piano
ballad withunderstated yet richly effective strings that seem to bloom like a rose amid deft cosmic swirls, picture sleeve)

2. Test |  | LITTLE DRAGON Machine Dreams (2009 UK 11-track vinyl LP - A bold
and surprising side/two step onwards from their self titled debut,
'Machine Dreams', with its nagging hooks and gloriously infectious
tunes, sees Little Dragon return with a pulsating electro pop epic that
Prince would be proud of [only fronted by a beautiful Swedish lady
with a sultry voice]. Recorded in their home city of Gothenburg,
'Machine Dreams' is a gigantic leap on from previous material but still
maintains a distinct sound that can only be Little Dragon. Album
opener 'A New' breaks us in gently with a single whirring note on the
synthesiser, an almost alien sound that gradually morphs into a slow,
thumping bassline. Whilst the single, 'Feather', finds Yukimi's voice at
its most detached and blaze, seemingly nonchalant yet magnificently
seductive. With additional highlights such as 'Runabout', 'Swimming'
and 'Blinking Pigs', the album closes with the stunning 'Fortune', which,
with its smattering of drums and bass and the magic of Yukimi's voice
and Hakan's electronic dynamics floating on top, is the perfect track to
end this fascinating journey through Little Dragon's brave new world!)
