A FEW OF THE ITEMS WE WANT...

MICK SOFTLEY Songs For Swinging Survivors (Rare 1965 UK first issue 12-track mono LP on the blue & black Columbia label - Mick was a true Folk-singer in the vein of Bob Dylan [but born in South Woodford, Essex in the UK], as he so deftly proved on this, his sought after debut. A big influence on the more famous Donovan, Softley's stunning voice & guitar playing is captured here in all its glory, with impeccable versions of Billie Holiday's 'Strange Fruit' & Woody Guthrie's 'PlainsOf The Buffalo'. The front laminated flipback picture sleeve grades VG & shows some light creasing in the laminate & mild age discolouring on the back [couple of small pen annotations to the back corners], with a little corner scuffing to the paper. The vinyl has been professionally cleaned & grades VG/VG- revealing spindle marks & hairlines & light play. On a mono playback setting, any surface noise is kept to a bare minimum. Our first & only copy! 33SX1781)

Tracklisting: 1. After The Third World War Is Over (Or How I Learnt To Live Without Myself) 2. The Bells Of Rhymney 3. Strange Fruit 4. Blues For Cupid Green 5. All I Want Is A Chance 6. MICK SOFTLEY Songs For Swingin' Survivors (2009 Russian limited edition 12-track LP pressed on 180gram VIRGIN VINYL - Mick Softley was a true folk-singer in the vein of Bob Dylan, as he so deftly proved on this, his first album, released in 1965, now considered as one of the most collectable and sought after folk LPs from the period. A huge influence on the more famous Donovan, Softley's beautiful voice and guitar playing is captured here in all its glory. Impeccable versions of Billie Holiday's 'Strange Fruit' and Woody Guthrie's 'Plains Of The Buffalo' complete Softley's gem, an absolute must for folk afficianados and a nice surprise for the newcomers; sealed & stickered picture sleeve)
