MR FOX The Gypsy (Rare 1971 UK 7-track vinyl LP, a British acid folk staple produced by Bill Leader, superb psychedelic gatefold sleeve with one of those appalling hard plastic inners with the bit of foam rubber at the opening [you know the ones]. A very bad idea that very quickly vanished into history, but normally not before the damage was done and the foam rubber disintegrated into the first track on either side, turning them into a crackle-fest. Very, very occasionally, the Goddesssmiles and a miracle happens. This is one such miracle. Not only does the sleeve show minimal shelfwear or edge scuffing, but the plastic inner is intact & unsplit, the foam rubber still recognisable as foam rubber & even the grim super tape that held the plastic to the sleeve is still in place. Not only that, but apart from a neatly written name on the label, the vinyl is still in excellent condition with little sign of play & more importantly, no traces of the foam rubber curse that afflicted most of its buddies, with the exception of a small amount that causes two rasps on the run in of side one but stops before the music starts. Compared to the more usual condition, this is a miracle indeed. A wonderful copy of this very hard to find album in as good as it gets condition!
