A FEW OF THE ITEMS WE WANT...

SMILE Earth (Every serious Queen collector has some knowledge of Smile, the band that featured Brian May, Roger Taylor and Tim Staffell, who recruited Freddie Mercury when Staffell left and the band became Queen. What some people don't know is that the band were actually signed to Mercury records in the US and in June 1969 the band were sent into the recording studio to record a single with a view to issuing it in the States. The single contained the Staffell penned Earth, and Step OnMe which Staffell co wrote with Brian May. Despite white label promos of the 7" being pressed and sent to press and radio, the commercial release was scrapped. In the early 1980's at the height of their fame due to the renewed interest in Smile and all things pre-Queen inferior bootlegs of this promo single flooded the market in a variety of colours. Due to the quality of the original it was sometimes difficult to tell the difference between a black vinyl bootleg and the real thing, however this ORIGINAL white title label wide centred Mercury promotional vinyl 7" is in superb condition & on close inspection it is easy to spot the differences. See the 'More Info' section for more details the matrix numbers and how to identify an original from a fake. A legendary piece of Queen history - For serious collectors only!)

Tracklisting: The Labels The labels are white Mercury labels with 'Promotional Copy Not For Sale' text. They are made from glossy, high quality paper stock. The main difference between this original and a bootleg copy is that on every bootleg copy we've seen the labels are very thin with poor print quality. The text on the bootlegs are usually blurry or smudged. The text on this original is clear and bold. The labels are unfaded with no handwriting or other faults. The Vinyl The Vinyl is in perfect mint condition. The Matrix numbers are handwritten they are as follows: A-Side 45 117 - 1 - 1 - 1 with the letters MR spaced away from the numbers B-Side 45 118 - 1 - 1 - 1 with the letters MR spaced away from the numbers The bootlegs often have the MR letters as an immediate prefix or suffix to the numbers. The vinyl on this original has a very distinct taper or ridge which begins approximately 1cm from the edge of the centre hole, bootlegs lack this taper edge. Lastly although we describe all records as vinyl, the exact substance used to press the originals was styrene which many 1960's and 70's records were made from. The main characteristic of styrene over vinyl is that styrene is more brittle and generally thinner than regular vinyl. Bootlegs were made of heavier vinyl.

We have cleaned and play tested and can confirm there is no major deterioration in sound quality.
