A FEW OF THE ITEMS WE WANT...
| THE MAGIC ROUNDABOUT Le Manège Enchanté (Superb rare set of
three original 60s French 7" vinyl EPs - Volumes 1, 2 & 3, telling the
original French versions of three stories. Fans of the UK version will
notice that the names are all different as in the UK they used the
same footage but completely re-wrote the stories! Each EP has a
sixteen page integral full colour illustrated booklet as part of the
laminated gatefold picture sleeve. All three are in VG+ condition with
obvious signsof age but no significant defects & all play without fault - Superbe!)
Tracklisting: Helpful French - English Translation notes :-
Pollux - Dougal - Speaks French with a heavy English accent
Flappy - Dylan - Speaks French with a heavy Spanish accent
Ambroise - Brian
Margote - Florence
Zébulon - Zebedee
Azalée - Ermintrude
Père Pivoine - Mr McHenry
Created by the French author Serge Danot in 1965, the Le Manège Enchanté (The Horse-gear Magic) had over 500 episodes made between 1963 and 1967.
The translations of Le Manège Enchanté series were done by Eric Thompson (Father of the actress Emma Thompson), who was at that time working as a presenter on the childrens program Play School.
Once Eric Thompson was chosen to do the voices and narration of the programmes, he decided not work from the translations of the French scripts but made up stories to fit the pictures as he went along!
In case you ever wondered just WHY it was so colourful, it was used as test for the SECAM process & became the symbol for this technology. At the rate of 24 frames a second, there are 7500 images needed for each 5 minute episode!
