A FEW OF THE ITEMS WE WANT...
| WEBSTER LEWIS Live At Club 7 (Monster rare 1972
Norwegian-only 7-track double vinyl LP, recorded live at
Club 7 in Oslo across two nights, this is a holy grail for jazz, funk &
soul collectors. Webster & his gang cook up a storm on somevery hip,
jazzy, street-smart funk with a spiritual bent. The 20-minute track 'Do
You Believe' has been heavily sampled in recent years, & their version
of Isley Brothers' 'Do Your Thing' is rare groove gold for any serious
DJ! See 'more info' for full line-up & condition... Do not miss!)
Tracklisting: With CV's that include playing in groups led by Tony Williams, Bill Evans, Pharaoh Sanders, Roland Kirk & Stanton Davis, the line-up is:
Webster Lewis- Hammond organ, Yamaha Electon & electric piano, Judd Watkins- vocal, Bobby Greene- Alto sax, Stan Strickland-Tenor Sax, Jimmy Hopps- Drums
1 Do You Believe 21:45
2 Saturday Night Evening 7:48
3 Mr. Knotts 9:18
4 Space Rock 15:23
5 Qvote - Unqvote 7:27
6 Dear Sister 3:33
7 It's Your Thing 10:13
Condition: -
With a full cover title that reads 'Webster Lewis And The Post-Pop Space-Rock Be-Bop Gospel Tabernacle Chorus And Orchestra BABY' you know you're in for something special. The gatefold sleeve is front laminated & a unique design. Pictures & illustrations of the group are be found inside. This live album did receive a reissue decades later but it's the original that remains the most sought after.
The sleeve shows only faint signs of ring wear & there is little in the way of any discolouring or scuffing at the edges. This is a beautiful condition example & one we're unlikely to ever see again. The sleeve easily reaches the 'excellent' grade.
With the vinyl, it is very difficult to detect any signs of play. Both are as clean as a whistle. To be extra sure, both discs have been professionally cleaned & housed in protective crystal clear soft inner bags = beautiful near mint condition! | | WEBSTER LEWIS Live At Club 7 (Monster rare 1972
