BUTTERFIELD BLUES BAND East-West (Classic 1966 US 9-track stereo LP on a deep groove Elektra gold label, recorded in the legendary Chess Studios. The band not only hammer their way through covers of Muddy Waters, Allen Toussaint, Robert Johnson & the fantastic Mike Nesmith-penned Mary Mary, but bring new Eastern Raga ideas into the mix. The stunning title track was influenced by Miles & Coltrane's modal jazz, released the same year The Byrds hit the nail on the head with their modal classic, Eight Miles High. The sleeve is still in its original open shrink & the vinyl looks barely touched! EKS-7315)
