JOHN'S CHILDREN Desdemona (Mega rare original 1968 Japanese red Polydor label 2-track 7" vinyl single ['stimulating, energetic, tingling, vigorous' - Melody Maker] written by and featuring Marc Bolan. This is the only single officially released during Marc's tenure with the band and was famously banned by the BBC in the UK due to the inclusion of the risqué lyric 'lift up your skirt and fly'! What we have here is the almost mythical Japanese pressing - the band's only release in thatterritory, and the first copy we have ever seen! Housed in a superb unique flipback black and white picture sleeve with a photograph showing John Hewlett, Andy Ellison and Chris Townson [but not Bolan!] on the front and a biography of the band in Japanese on the back along with lyrics in English

FURTHER NOTES ON CONDITION

The picture sleeve has a black and white photograph on the front with a red Polydor Records logo and boldly printed red & blue title text in both English and Japanese. The sleeve shows only the faintest of creasing on the front with light discolouration to the bottom left corner; the edges are sharp and free from tears. The reverse shows some light discolouration and sticker residue in one corner, however the flipbacks are intact and the text is clearly legible.

The vinyl is in stunning MINT condition, with no surface marks or scuffs of any kind, retaining a beautiful shine nearly 40 years on. The matrix numbers are machine stamped into the 'dead wax' area on each side.

The red Polydor labels are also mint except for two faint sticker marks on the A-side which are only visible when viewed under a strong light.

A legendary rarity in phenomenal condition!
