Just What You Want - Solid - Archive

JOHN'S CHILDREN Just What You Want - Just What You'll Get (Extremely rare archive quality 1967 UK solid centre 7" vinyl single, from the pre-Marc Bolan era line up, also including But She's Mine featuring Jeff Beck's nimble finger work on the solo, housed in Columbia Records die-cut company sleeve. This example remains in an amazing condition, the labels have no spindle marks amd the vinyl has clearly never seen a turntable, even the original company sleeve looks clean and crisp, with a small sticker in the top right corner stated the previous owner paid for this on the 3/1/68! An extremely hard to find single, regarded as an influential pioneer and quite probably one of the first Psychedelic bands! DB8124)

Tracklisting & More Information

John's Children had previously been known as the Silence which had developed from a number of even earlier bands such as the Clockwork Onions and The Few. The name John's Children came about because bass player John Hewlett was the leader of the band. The other band members were lead singer Andy Ellison, guitarist Geoff McClelland, and drummer Chris Townson who occasionally deputized for the Who's Keith Moon. The band had already caused quite a stir in England after having done some nude publicity shots and performing some relatively wild stage acts. Today they are remembered as one of the first psychedelic bands of this era.

Discovered by pop impresario/ Yardbird manager Simon Napier Bell, they recorded "The Love I Thought I'd Found'/"Just What You Want, Just What You'll Get' for Columbia/EMI with lineup of Andy Ellison, vocals; Geoff McLelland, guitar; Chris Townson, drums; John Hewlett, bass. McLelland was replaced by Marc Bolan after they signed to Track Records but Marc only stayed 6 months.
