Tracklisting & More Information

This remarkable set consists of demo copies of the following singles - the band's first five releases under the name 'The Who':

I Can't Explain/ Bald Headed Woman 05926
Anyway Anyhow Anywhere/Daddy Rolling Stone 05935
My Generation/Shout And Shimmy 05944
A Legal Matter/Instant Party 05956
The Kids Are Alright/The Ox 05965

Each single has red Brunswick labels (commercial issues were black) with silver print, 'Demonstration Sample Not For Sale' text, and in common with other Decca group demo pressings, a 'ridge' effect printed around the label perimeter.

There are subtle variations in the A-side label designs - 'I Can't Explain' has a large light blue outline 'A' across the centre of the label, the other four have a smaller block 'A' on the right hand side; the first two singles also have the proposed release date (15/1/65 and 21/5/65 respectively) printed below the catalogue number.

There is a small, light black 3-digit number stamp on each label, however this does not detract from the visual impact of these beauties with the original 4-prong centres intact.

The vinyl in each case is MINT, retaining a gorgeous lustre - over 40 years on!

These copies were shipped out to the US in 1966 and therefore 4 remain in original US brown Brunswick company sleeves, though we have supplied a reproduction UK 'red stripe' company sleeve with each single as well as the US sleeves.

Five groundbreaking 45s in their rarest form in simply jaw-dropping condition.
