THE WHO Lifehouse (Extremely rare 1971 3-track 12" high grade methyl cellulose lacquer acetate for the proposed sides C & D of the aborted 'Lifehouse' project. Running at 33RPM, this disc includes Pete Townshend's original stereo demos for Baba O'Riley, running to just over thirteen minutes as an instrumental, with the other side containing an 8:35 vocal version of Won't Get Fooled Again & a 5:36 vocal version of The Song Is Over. The labels are type written IBC Studios blanks that are also annotated with the side & title information along with a Track Records credit. Interestingly, these are credited to The Who, although they are certainly Townshend solo demos containing just Pete's vocal, Drums, Keyboards & Guitars. Being extremely fragile, this disc shows a few surface marks on both sides & does play through with a degree of crackle but it is nothing that you wouldn't expect from an acetate of this vintage, in fact a great deal less than is usual. As an original part of 'The Who album that never was', its place in history is undeniable & being an acetate pressing of the original demo recordings, it seems likely that this once was in the hands of a member of the band. One of the ultimate Who Holy Grail items!)
