HERBIE HANCOCK Maiden Voyage (1965 US 5-track mono LP on the 'New York' address Blue Note label, with the 'Van Gelder' stamp in the run-outs. Also stars Freddie Hubbard, George Coleman, Ron Carter & Anthony Williams in an amazing soundscape that flows from start to finish, it's arguably the greatest jazz album of the sixties! The cover grades VG with a number of small paper splits around the edges [small paper tear to front, top right] with some further crease marks, but no writingor major blemishing. The back panel remains unscathed with all text clear. The vinyl has been professionally cleaned & play tested. Visually, there are some faint cosmetic scuffs & light spindle marks but the sound remains outstanding on a mono playback setting. The occasional light background surface is detectable in the quieter sections, in no way spoiling the enjoyment of this essential Blue Note date. A far better audio experience than so many of the CD releases out there, this sounds like they're performing in your front living room! BLP4195)
