HERBIE HANCOCK Sextant (1997 Japanese 3-track remastered CD, originally released in 1973, featuring Julian Priester, Benny Maupin plus the legendary Dr. Patrick Gleeson on Arp Synthesizers. An album light years ahead of its time and a perfect artefact that not just jazz-rock but all dance and electronic music fans will appreciate. Backed by his Mwandishi group (inspired by Swahili names), Herbie is truly inspired, pushing the boundaries of jazz to the outer limits whilst embracing newtechnology to full effect. In hindsight it gives all contemporary electronica outfits a run for their money! Housed in a replica mini-LP style card wallet picture sleeve with a Japanese insert and 'Master Sound' series obi-strip SRCS9338)
