Carnegie Hall, December 11th 1943

DUKE ELLINGTON & HIS ORCHESTRA Carnegie Hall, December 11th 1943 (2008 UK 22-track 2-CD album set - Between 1943 - 1948, Ellington made regular visits to Carnegie Hall. This concert in December 1943, is significant as it saw the introduction of the suite 'New World's A-Coming', with some great moments of his stride piano; also included is the obligatory hits medley, alongside a selection of both new and proven material. Ellington fans will appreciate the opportunity of hearing anentire concert by the great ensemble from a period in the middle of a recording ban imposed by the musician's union.)
