REM Test Pressing For The 1990 Fan Club Single With Stampers (Ultra rare 1990 US wide centred 7" vinyl white label test pressing for the Fan Club Single that year, with unassembled printed proof of the embossed card mailer, complete with the negative metal stamper plates for both side of the 7". The Master stampers are created from the mothers and are 'negatives', in that they have ridges where the final disc has grooves. Usually a maximum of just six sets are created from a single mother before being destroyed, with each stamper having a limited lifespan, sometimes just one thousand copies of a record may be pressed before a new stamper is used. Quite probably the only collection of this kind left in existence!)

PLATING

Plating refers to the process of making metal stampers from Lacquer. The Lacquers are silver coated and electroplated to make a negative image of the record in the 'male & female' sense, meaning the grooves in the plates are raised where the grooves in the records are etched.

Plating then involves making 'Mothers' from the stampers. 'Mothers' are a metal version of the finished record and are limited to less than a handful for any given release.
