TANGERINE DREAM Sony Center Topping Out Ceremony Score (Extremely rare 1999 German promotional CD containing the eighteen minute specially commissioned piece that was written by Edgar Froese for the ceremony at the Potzdamer Platz in Berlin on September 2nd 1998. There are actually six parts to the dance performance of the piece, Tanz des Bauarbeiters (Construction Worker's Dance), Tanz der Kommunikation (Communication's Dance), Tanz des Wohnens (Residential Dance), Tanz der Freizeit(Recreational Dance), Tanz des Forums (Dance Of The Forum), and Tanz der Kunst (Dance Of The Arts). Edgar Froese mentioned in a 1998 interview that Sony were likely to release a CD-Rom of the event and that a release of the full thirty two minute musical version would then follow from Tangerine Dream. As it happened, neither of these events took place and both the CD-Rom & the full version of the piece remained unissued. The very few promotional CDs, like this one, that were manufactured at the time remained elusive & only possessed by the small number of chosen ones who had direct involvement with the event. As a surprise gift from the band, those collectors who had pre-ordered the 'Millennium Booster' box set from TDI were delighted to receive one of these incredibly rare CDs inside the package. Needless to say, even accounting for the pre-orders of the box set, these were produced in very small numbers. A subsequent CDR was sold at gigs, but these sealed CDs in their Digipack sleeves were long gone. What we have here is one of those original sealed Digipacks containing a pristine pressed CD, NOT a CDR, which has already become a legendary & much discussed item amongst Tangerine Dream collectors. Needless to say, the first and only one of these that we have seen in the past fourteen years!)
