Tracklisting & More Information

This was the first time that the Bluesbreakers album had been released in Stereo, the Mono album having been issued in 1966 just days after Eric Clapton had left the band to form Cream.

Decca were notoriously chaotic about their label and sleeve use and several combinations of type face and design can be found.
What identifies this as a first release is the lack of a Mono/Stereo punch hole on the sleeve. The punch hole sleeves happened shortly thereafter and continued through to the boxed label, but were themselves phased out with the end of Mono.
The very first batch of sleeves were produced prior to this change and did NOT have the punch hole and were clearly printed with 'stereo' lettering on the back top right corner, rather than the asexual punch hole sleeves that indicated their contents by displaying either a blue or red bordered inner through the punch hole.

The label is printed with the speed and master tape number above the catalogue number in curly brackets. This is the correct way up instead of upside down as they were on early unboxed labels. It is known from other albums on Decca at the time that this could be either way up, but the earlier label design still used the curly brackets, where the later labels were unbracketed.

All labels were the non-grooved variety without tax code.

The sleeve is Excellent with some very mild age yellowing coming in around the edges on the back & very little sign of wear to the front laminate. The vinyl appears Near Mint with very little indication of any play in its life.

A fantastic copy of this very rare first stereo issue.
