Tracklisting & More Information

This album is normally found, when found at all, in fairly near to destroyed condition. Even then it would cost you three figures.
Pressed in a very limited run of just ninety nine copies to avoid UK purchase tax, most copies of this album have long since bitten the dust or passed into private collections.

Needless to say, this is the first copy of this that we have ever seen and it's a beauty too.

The band at the time consisted of Chris Adams, Pauline Adams & John F. Mannion. Chris Adams wrote all the songs, which were recorded at Sutton Sound Studios in London.
Sounding like a combination of The Byrds & The Pretty Things more psychedelic moments, with an injection of Australian era Bee Gees, most of the album is acoustic although there are interspersions of flute, brass, Fuzz Guitar, strings, Sitar & even a Mellotron. The three voices blend beautifully together & bind the compositions into something that is hard to believe is a self financed debut album.

Condition:

The sleeve is front laminated and made by our old friends Garrod & Lofthouse.
The laminate is sharp and bright and free of major creasing. There is a little scuffing evident at the very ends of the corners and a miniscule amount at the opening, but that's it. The spine is clearly readable.
Turning over, there is a little shelfwear evident at the very edges of the flips where the laminate finishes, but even there, nothing to write home about.
The unlaminated back shows very little in the way of shelfwear at all and all text remains clearly readable and free from wear.

By the looks of things, this may have been pressed by CBS, although there are no obvious clues. The labels, rather than the fairly plain affairs that usually adorn presses of this time are fairly elaborate psychedelic designs in Orange, Peach & Silver. These remain clear, bright & free from writing.

The vinyl matches the rest of this package, remaining excellent with little sign of play. We have playtested the entire album, partly to make sure that it played as well as it looked & partly to satisfy our own curiosity, having never heard this early version of the band before.
There is a curious light mottling effect on the vinyl, source unknown, but it's certainly not 'poly rash' as it never had a poly inner. It also has no effect on playback.
There is almost no noise between tracks at all. There is no burring, nothing to affect the sonics, just a couple of light clicks & a bit of sibilence during the last track of the second side that you really have to listen for. This may have been a result of the bass guitar being rather high in the mix for the last track on a side, leading to stylus stress trying to track cleanly. Nevertheless, this remains an amazing copy that sounds near brand new.

Given that only 99 copies of this LP have ever existed, to find a copy like this is a once in a lifetime thing. It was for me and I doubt that I'll ever see another. I am certain that I will never see another looking as good as this.

An unbelievable copy of one of the rarest British Psyche/Folk albums out there !
