ORNETTE COLEMAN DOUBLE QUARTET Free Jazz (1974 US stereo issue of the groundbreaking 1961 LP on a green & orange Atlantic label [PR suffix in label number], a milestone in spontaneous group improvisation using two separate quartets panned to either side of the stereo spectrum that caused a great deal of controversy at the time. The stellar array of musicians also feature Donald Cherry, Scott LaFaro & Billy Higgins on the left channel & Eric Dolphy, Freddie Hubbard, Charlie Haden & Ed Blackwell on the right. The die-cut gatefold picture sleeve has extensive liner notes along with an equally abstract Jackson Pollock illustration inside. The sleeve is Excellent with some light patches of foxing & the vinyl grades Excellent with just a few faint paper scuffs to show play SD1364)
