A New Conception - Tone Poet Series 180 Gram - Sealed

SAM RIVERS A New Conception (Blue Note Tone Poet Series 2025 limited edition 7-track stereo LP cut directly from the original analogue tapes, mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio and pressed at RTI on 180-gram vinyl. Following hisgroundbreaking debut Fuchsia Swing Song (1964) and its adventurous follow-up Contours (1965), multi-instrumentalist Sam Rivers shifted direction on his third Blue Note album A New Conception (1966). Here Rivers reimagineda set of jazz standards through his own highly original lens, backed by Hal Galper (piano), Herbert Lewis (bass), and Steve Ellington (drums). Despite the familiar repertoire-including "When I Fall In Love," "I'll Never Smile Again," "Detour Ahead," and "Secret Love"-Rivers' interpretations are anything but conventional. His bold harmonic sense and instrumental versatility (on tenor and soprano saxophone as well as flute) transform each performance into something strikingly new, reaffirming his place as one of the most distinctive voices of the Blue Note roster. Presented inside a deluxe tip-on pasted picture sleeve, hype sticker & factory sealed inside its loose bag. Recommended)
