Across 61 tracks, the collection weaves together studio recordings, live performances, alternate takes, rare demos, and collaborations with giants such as Wayne Shorter, Jaco Pastorius, Herbie Hancock, and Charles Mingus. The set covers nearly every phase of Mitchell's career, from Songs To A Seagull through Hejira, Mingus, Both Sides Now, and beyond. It features two previously unreleased 1980 demos and closes with her moving live rendition of "Summertime," recorded at her triumphant 2023 Newport Folk Festival performance. Packaged with rare and unseen photos, original Mitchell artwork, and new liner notes, Joni's Jazz is both a self-portrait and a dedication to her longtime friend and collaborator Wayne Shorter.
