PRINCE & THE REVOLUTION Purple Rain (The definitive audiophile edition of Prince & The Revolution's landmark 1984 album Purple Rain - newly presented as a Because Sound Matters One-Step pressing. This release is sourced from 192kHz/24-bit files transferred directly from the original EQ'd analogue master tapes. Mastering was carried out by Levi Seitz at Black Belt Mastering, with lacquers prepared specifically for the One-Step process. To minimise generational loss during manufacturing, One-Step plating is used, reducing the number of metal parts created between lacquer and final stamper. The record is pressed on 180-gram high-definition vinyl at RTI and housed in a Stoughton Printing "Old Style" tip-on gatefold jacket with the original artwork. The LP is presented within a uniquely designed, individually numbered slipcase and includes the original inner sleeve and poster. This pressing is limited to 6,000 individually numbered copies. Originally released in 1984, Purple Rain functions as both a studio album and a soundtrack, combining studio recordings with live performances captured at First Avenue in Minneapolis. The album has sold more than 25 million copies worldwide and has been recognised by the Grammy Hall of Fame and the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry for its cultural and historical significance. Because Sound Matters opted not to re-run the original ¼" EQ'd analogue master tape multiple times, instead working from an early high-resolution transfer made directly from that tape. This approach preserves the integrity of the source while allowing the One-Step process to be executed without additional tape wear. This version sets a new benchmark for the album's sound and presentation. Factory sealed)#Top 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time
