Duke (Impossibly Rare Pair of Single-Sided Test Pressings
for the 1956 UK 12-track mono LP, recorded in Chicago, Illinois that
year & starring such notables as Paul Gonsalves &Cat Anderson. The
custom studio labels have 'Factory Sample - Not For Sale' print along
the top along with the matrix, catalogue, artist & title detail stamped
on the labels' playing side of both discs. The tracklist is also annotated
by hand& the matrices in the run-outs are machine stamped:
'ABL-380-1B/ ABL-381-1B'. These are heavyweight non-bendable
200gram discs. This rarity originates from the private collection of a
former staff member for Dobells record shop in Charing Cross,
untouched for over half a century. Only a small handful of these were
pressed to test the sonics & there can be few surviving copies left.
Complete with the 'Emitex' inner bag, which is annotated with all the
matrix & recordings details, the two vinyl discs are Excellent to Near
Mint with little evidence of play LTZ-N15029)
