HANK MOBLEY Roll Call (Rare 1961 US mono first issue of the classic
6-track LP on the 'West 63rd' address Blue Note label, also featuring
Freddie Hubbard on Trumpet, Wynton Kelly on Piano, Paul Chambers
on Bass & Art Blakey on Drums, pasted picture sleeve. The sleeve
shows just a little corner scuffing & remains in very nice condition
indeed, still with the UK import sticker on the back & a clearly readable
spine. The vinyl too, whilst not mint, shows just a couple of surface
scuffs after over fifty years. Upon playtesting, the clarity is still held in
those ancient grooves & the disc plays cleanly with minimal distortion &
just a little light surface noise evident in some quiet passages. All in all,
a very comfortable VG+/EX- copy of this classic Blue Note release!

HANK MOBLEY A Caddy For Daddy (Extremely rare 1966 US original
5-track mono LP on the 'New York USA' addressed Blue Note label
with 'West 61st St' address on the back of the pasted picture sleeve.
Recorded by Rudy Van Gelder, the session saw Mobley accompanied
by Curtis Fuller on trombone, Lee Morgan on Trumpet, McCoy Tyner
on Piano, Bob Cranshaw on Bass & Billy Higgins on Drums - each a
star in their own right - and is now rightly very highly regarded,
although it sold few copies atthe time, making nice copies [or any
copies at all] very difficult to find over forty years later. Speaking of
nice copies ... this one not only has perfect vinyl, but the sleeve too
shows just a little light corner scuffing where the shrink has
broken [!]. Yes, this copy is still in the original opened
shrink, which has kept the sleeve as immaculate as the vinyl - Next to
finding a sealed copy, this is as good as it gets! BLP4230)
