LEE DORSEY Ride Your Pony (2010 issue UK 23-track digitally
remastered CD album - Lee Dorsey epitomized the loose, easygoing
charm of New Orleans R&B perhaps more than any other artist of the
'60s. Working with legendary Crescent City producer /writer Allen
Toussaint, Dorsey typically offered good-time party tunes with a
playful sense of humor and a loping, funky backbeat. This collection
features his earlier Toussaint-produced sides, built around his Bell
records album 'Ride Your Pony', along with a slew of 45 side and
rarities. Backed by the legendary Meters, and packed with good
humour and soul dancers, this is an amazing introduction to the work
of one of the Crescent City's finest)

LEE DORSEY Yes We Can (1970 UK Polydor 12-track stereo LP, quite
possibly the pinnacle of album-length New Orleans funky soul, written
and arranged by Allen Toussaint with backing by The Meters. This
underrated gem features the title track two-parter, later brought to
the charts by the Pointer Sisters, Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley,
subsequently covered by Robert Palmer, plus Occapella [which even
Ringo Starr felt compelled to cover!]. Both the fully laminatedpicture sleeve and vinyl are library stickered to one side, and the sleeve shows just a small unobtrusive number mark to the back cover, however it remains in excellent condition, the vinyl flawless!)
