Scotland's Simple Minds evolved from a post-punk art rock band into a grand, epic-sounding pop band. Their early albums leaped from one style to another, from dense, arty pop songs on 'Life In A Day' to experimental art rock and even Euro-disco on the album 'Empires and Dance' . The group began the transition to a more accessible pop style with the release of their next few albums. The breakthrough cam with the release of the classic album 'Once Upon a Time' which sold solidly thouhgout the world thanks largely to the superb singles 'Alive & Kicking', Sancitfy Yourself' and 'Ghotsdancing'. The band found the 90's heavy going but their loyal fanbase never diminished and they lapped up the 1995 album ' Good News From The Next World'. With only one album of new material released since then, 2002's 'Cry', fans are having to make do with Super Audio remissues to remind themsleves just how good a partnership Kerr and Burhcill can be.
