HOT HITS Hot Hits 5 (1971 UK 12-track stereo compilation LP, part of a UK phenomenon which saw the two major budget labels compete weekly to attempt to second guess & record cover versions of the following weeks chart toppers. Each album had to be tracklisted, recorded, manufactured & in the shops in time for the following weeks chart announcements, meaning that they were of necessity produced incredibly quickly. This meant that some of the cream of the UK's session musicians wereused in order to get the songs down in the minimum of takes. People such as Elton John, members of Thin Lizzy & Deep Purple, along with many other notable 'names' are known to have participated in these sessions, making these albums now quite sought after by completists & very hard to get in mint condition over thirty years on.
