FRANK ZAPPA Finer Moments (2012 UK 13-track double LP, originally compiled by Frank in 1972 & digitally remastered by Chris Bellman from that original analogue master at Bernie Grundman mastering. Technically a kind of 'Weasels' Vol II, this contains studio & live performances from 1967 to 1972, that actually build & flow in a much more satisfying way as four sides of vinyl, exactly as Frank first intended them to be. Yet more of the unreleased 'History & Collected Improvisations'material that Frank re-edited and recompiled after the original idea for the ten or twelve LP box set was shelved. Containing two mammoth live performances, the eighteen minute 'Uncle Rhebus' from The Ark in 1969 & the nineteen minute 'The Subcutaneous Peril' from Carnegie Hall in 1971, this is not a 'Zappa by numbers' greatest hits re-hash but a superb slice of the more involved and more improvisational side of the composer's canon. This high quality vinyl release remains factory sealed, fresh as a Pumpkin, all ready for you to fondle and fetish in the privacy of your own teen-age high school bedroom!)
