French artist Michel Bernholc used the pseudonym Mike Steiphenson to adapt an oldfield recording of drummers from Burundi’s musical ensemble Ingoma Tribe, remixing it for the Disco crowd. Malcolm McLaren loved it, Adam Ant sampled it & Bow Wow Wow, Slits, PiL & Siouxie & The Banshees all led the wave of the Burundi post-punkbeat.
