GENESIS Wind & Wuthering (1976 UK first press 9-track LP on the small Madhatter label, a beautifully atmospheric release, Wind & Wuthering marked Genesis’ final appearance of guitarist Steve Hackett, who would depart following the subsequent tour, closing out the band’s revered 'classic' era. Recorded at Relight Studios in the Netherlands, the album showcases a refined blend of progressive rock complexity & emerging melodic sensibilities. Highlights include the sweeping instrumentalsuite Unquiet Slumbers for the Sleepers.../...In That Quiet Earth, inspired by Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights plus the exquisite Blood On The Rooftops, a much-loved gem penned by Hackett & Phil Collins. The single Your Own Special Way, written by Mike Rutherford, hinted at the more accessible direction the band would explore in later years & remains a live staple. Other standouts include the energetic opener Eleventh Earl Of Mar & the moody epic One For The Vine, which showcases Tony Banks’ virtuosic keyboard work. With a seamless blend of classical-influenced arrangements, lyrical introspection & a pastoral English tone, this album has since become a cult favourite among fans of 1970s progressive rock. Complete with the lyric inner & textured picture sleeve, the sleeve shows minimal wear & the vinyl appears barely played CDS4005)
