Small Sketches

JIMI HENDRIX Small Sketches (Incredible 1968 sheet of felt tip pen drawings by Jimi Hendrix that was given to Noel Redding during their 1968 American tour. The style of the drawing is a heavy psychedelic 'star & crown' style image, with Harp, Flying Guitar & four stick men motif. These drawings were done to pass the time during the long periods on tour buses or when waiting around in hotels & off stage. The sheet measures 6½" x 8" & it is initialled JH in the corner. Noel has written a short note on the reverse detailing the history of the item & it is also authenticated by Eugene Mcfadden, the Experience road manager)

BACKGROUND
This is one of several miscellaneous drawings obtained directly from Noel Redding when he was selling large parts of his collection, with several other pieces sold through major auction houses over the last few years. In addition it is signed by one of Noel's friends, Eugene Mcfadden, who was the Experience's road manager. These were drawn In leisure 'down' time where Jimi Hendrix could be found either playing guitar or drawing and painting, more as relaxation than anything else. He was not precious over his self confessed 'doodles' and on many occasions threw his drawings away [though these were retrieved by members of his entourage from time to time - well wouldn't you??]
