JAMES BROWN The Payback (Totally bad-to-the-bone 1973 US original 8-track double LP, on red Polydor 'JB Production' picture labels with the 'Afro head' image & 'Sterling' machine stamped in the run-outs. The Payback was originally scheduled asthe soundtrack to the blaxploitation movie Hell Up In Harlem, but was bizarrely rejected by the director as 'not James Brown enough'! Obviously that man had cloth ears; this is now considered a high point in JB's career & a landmark funk album. The pasted gatefold sleeve has the European catalogue number sticker on the reverse and is Excellent with only light signs of age [a little corner scuffing and minor storage wear] & no deletion cuts. The vinyl discs are Excellent with only very light cosmetic scuffs. Recommended PD2-3007)
