JAMES BROWN The Payback (Totally bad-to-the-bone 1973 US original 8-track double LP, on red Polydor 'JB Production' picture labels with the 'Afro head' image & 'Sterling' machine stamped in the run-outs. The Payback was originally scheduled asthe soundtrack to the blaxploitation movie Hell Up In Harlem, but was bizarrely rejected by the director as 'not James Brown enough'! Obviously that man had cloth ears; this is now considered a high point in JB's career & a landmark funk album. The pasted gatefold sleeve is Excellent with minimal sign of its age [a little corner scuffing] & no deletion cuts. The vinyl discs are Excellent to Near Mint with very few signs of play. Recommended PD2-3007)
