Tracklisting & More Information

More Details
This copy is the 'fourth' UK mono issue of the first Stones LP, although Decca employees freely admit that there were multiple typesetters of the labels and they tended to keep the sleeves in a pile, so the combination of sleeve & label is a far from exact science, with many different variations turning up. In reality, it is really still a second press with the modified master that plays the full 4:06 version of 'Tell Me'. The next material difference came in 1965 when the labels dropped the 'Recording First Published' text & just had 'P 1964'.

The label lists the 'Hurran/Calvert' credit for 'Honest I Do' as well as listing 'I Need You Baby' instead of 'Mona', the publishing credit c) is Burlingon Music. They also have 'Recording First Published' text, dating this press to Summer 1964.

The only real difference between this and the third issue, is the 'N' after the mastertape number missing.

The sleeve is the third printing variant, with 'MONO' printed on the back & 'I Need You Baby' listed instead of 'Mona'. This also dates the sleeve to 1964.

Condition

The sleeve displays some minor general wear with some creases to the laminate and some age yellowing discoloration on the non laminated back.

The labels both display some spindle marks to show it has been played a few times, whilst the vinyl has has a few noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch, but plays through without any issues with only a little light background noise, and sounds excellent thanks to the 1960s vinyl.

Although not mint this is still a very good example.
