KING CRIMSON In The Court Of The Crimson King (An Observation By King Crimson) / In The Wake Of Poseidon / Lizard / Island (Rare 2016 Japanese only Six Disc box set, featuring Four digitally remastered Platinum SHM-CD's [Super High Material CD - playable on most CD players], the ultimate compact disc utilizing platinum in place of the aluminium to form the reflective coating. Along with four NTSC DVD-Audio discs for each album in enhanced stereo & 5.1 24bit/48khz surround soundmixes, also includes bonus recordings including live material. Each SHM-CD are housed within their own replica 7" square mini-LP style picture sleeve (three out of the four gatefold), with replica obi-strip, booklet & Japanese inserts, whilst the bonus disc for also in their own replica sleeve with obi, each album has an outer full back wrap-around obi; all housed within a 7½" square by 2" deep glossy card slipcase featuring 'In The Court...' artwork. This set was sold exclusively through Disc Union & WowWow Entertainment, and remains in a fantastic near as new condition)

Platinum SHM-CD [Super High Material CD] is the ultimate compact disc utilizing platinum in place of the aluminium to form the reflective coating in addition to the proven SHM-CD technology, which features enhanced audio quality through the use of a special polycarbonate plastic. Using a process developed by JVC and Universal Music Japan discovered through the joint companies' research into LCD display manufacturing, SHM-CDs feature improved transparency on the data side of the disc, allowing for more accurate reading of CD data by the CD player laser head.

The label surface is printed a turquoise blue colour, this helps to absorb the unwanted pickup/stray light which is reflected by the playback machine.

Platinum SHM-CD is fully compatible with standard CD players. However, it will not play on CD players that are not compatible with CD-R (Compact Disc-Recordable) discs.
