OCTOPUS Restless Night (Ultra rare 1970 UK 10 track stereo vinyl LP. Originally named The Cortinas, this mid-60's Hatfield based quartet supported Yes and Status Quo among others in their early days and released this one and done album which is a fascinating blend of early 70's pop with tinges of psychedelia & space rock, with musical phrases and choruses highly reminiscent of The Beatles and 10cc. Complete with the era's typical fuzz guitar and swirly organ it was all too short lived as sadly they decided to split up in 1972. Their keyboard player John Cook later joined Mungo Jerry whereas bassist Nigel Griggs and drummer Malcolm Green, both moving to Australia, eventually became members of Split Enz. All housed in a wonderfully striking gatefold picture sleeve which displays light edge and corner wear due to age, whilst the vinyl itself carries minimal signs of previous play with mild hairlines but nothing to upset play. All amazing considering its 55 years in the wild and overall a fantastic example of this incredibly collectable time capsule and the first we have ever seen- Recommended PELS508)
