This debut album, was originally released in 1981 and produced by Martin Hannett, whose work with Joy Division had already defined a generation of post-punk sound. Written in the aftermath of Ian Curtis' sudden passing, the album's eight original tracks capture the band navigating a transition from grief to reinvention. Songs like 'Dreams Never End' and 'Truth', were penned quickly during a writing session in the summer of 1980 and mark New Order's first creative steps beyond Joy Division.
