THE ROLLING STONES Come On (Extremely Rare 1963 UK 'A' label
vinyl 7" for the debut single, the very first Rolling Stones
record released anywhere in the world, rumoured to be pressed as
low as 200 copies. This is one of the few surviving copies that was
sent to radio stations prior to the single’s release in Britain on June
7th, 1963. The labels have custom 'Demonstration Sample Not For
Sale' print both sides &the original four prong centre remains intact.
All the hallmarks ofa first pressing are present with the original M/T
tax code & 'Jewel Music' publisher credit to the left & composer credits
in italics below the song titles. Also includes the b-side 'I Want To Be
Loved', complete with the Decca company die cut paper sleeve. The
labels reveal spindle marks & a sticker mark on the B-side, with no
writing or tears - there can be few copies left of this historic Stones 45
with the centre still intact. The matrix stampers in the run-outs are
visible & read: XDRF-30937-TI-IC/ XDRF-30938-TI-IC. The vinyl has
been play tested & is conservatively graded FAIR. Visually, the playing
surface exhibits excessive paper hairline scuffs both sides. The
scratches are light & not raised. Playback is surprisingly impressive
with no jumps or sticks; there is background surface to be expected
both sides but no major clicking or interruptions. Distortion is minor on
a mono playback setting & all instruments remain clear - It's a miracle
this record has survived at all & is likely to be missing from even the
greatest Stones collections out there. This super rare Stones 'A' label
would command a much higher price in better condition but in all our
years trading, this is only the second one we have ever seen. A vital
piece for the collector F.11675)
