Howard Rumsey & His Lighthouse All Stars (Unique 1954 UK
6-track mono 10" double-sided metal based ultra high-grade
methyl cellulose lacquer acetate, also starring Bud Shank
[flute, alto], Claude Williamson [piano], Bob Cooper [oboe,
English horn] & Max Roach [drums], with a unique wraparound
artwork sleeve hand drawn by a keen fan over sixty years
ago. The acetate has a Cresta manufacturing label both sides
with the tracklist annotated by hand. See 'more info' for

This disc was produced & overseen by a keen British fan of the period who witnessed the birth of modern jazz being exported from the States & also the homegrown variety, judging by the amount of Brit-Jazz acetates we have found from the same collection. This chap was also a keen illustrator.
The disc is housed between a 10" sized wraparound blue card sleeve. The artwork appears to be a unique line art idea.
The surface of the acetate is in superb condition, with few signs of cosmetic wear. This is a unique, homemade affair & one that could only have been produced by the hands of a true jazz fan. |
