12-track deep groove mono vinyl LP with 1A/2A stamped
matrices, on the unboxed Decca label with 'Made In England -
The Decca Record Co Ltd' print along the top rim, the
composer credits in italics & the 'K'T' code to the right. The
David Bailey cover is front laminated with flipbacks & has the
original offending 'blind man' wording in Andrew Loog
Oldham's album notes, which caused uproar at the time & was
even raised in Parliament! This text was subsequently pasted
over & then re-printed altogether. See 'more info' for

Tracklisting: The group's second British album actually appeared after their second US LP, mostly owing to the fact that the British rock & roll audience wasn't focused on the long-player as a medium (Singles and EPs were the driving force of the business in England then).
It uses the same David Bailey cover shot that had graced the US issued '12 X 5' album two months earlier, but only four songs (Under The Boardwalk, Suzie Q, Grown Up Wrong and Time Is On My Side) overlap on the two albums.
Rather, Rolling Stones No. 2 offered seven songs that weren't to make it out in America until four months later on 'The Rolling Stones Now!' It also includes one of the group's best blues covers, their version of Muddy Waters' I Can't Be Satisfied, which wasn't released in America until 1973 and features some killer slide playing by Brian Jones. The U.K. LP was originally released in mono only & took forever to come out on CD in this form.
The original cover design carried sleeve notes that included the text: "If you don’t have bread, see that blind man, knock him on the head, steal his wallet and low and behold you have the loot, if you put in the boot, good, another one sold!"
Not one of Mr Loog Oldham's wisest lyrical outpourings and they naturally caused uproar in January 1965, even to the extent of being debated in the UK Parliament. This was a bit too much for Decca and an alternate version of the back artwork was hastily prepared & the few they had left in the factories were overpasted with the new artwork. Most first issue sleeves continued to carry the text as they were already in the shops.
The labels are red with unboxed, open Decca logo and ffrr 'ear', with the deep grooves that were omitted from later pressings.
The matrix numbers are machine stamped into the 'dead wax' areas. They are as follows:

Condition:
The cover has the earliest flipbacks & Blind Man text. It remains a nice off white with no writing or tears. Usually found discoloured & smoked or simply ruined altogether, there is a tear to the bottom flipback leaving it VG condition.
The vinyl is clean & grades Excellent with a nice deep sheen & just a few spindle marks around the centre hole and a smattering of light hairlines to show play. A great example indeed.

Tracklisting: The wait is over. All three studio albums by Lush will finally be back in print on vinyl starting August 11, 2023.
Originally Released June 13 1994. Featuring the singles “Desire Lines” and “Hypocrite,” Split is the second full studio album by Lush. Produced by Mike Hedges – famed for his work on The Cure’s Seventeen Seconds & Siouxsie and the Banshees’s A Kiss in the Dreamhouse – and mixed by Alan Moulder, Split sees the band hit a more direct sound whilst retaining their almost pitch-black feel.
Built around the songwriting talents of Emma Anderson and Miki Berenyi, Lush successfully defined a myriad of 90s scenes such as shoegaze, dream pop and Britpop before they disbanded in 1998. A much-loved band who briefly reformed in 2016, recent years has seen a new, young audience fall in love with their music after discovering it via TikTok, Spotify et al. And outside of a lavish Record Store Day career retrospective boxset in 2016, all three studio albums – Spooky (1992), Split (1994) and Lovelife (1996) – have been unavailable on vinyl since the 90s.
With demand high, the band have been working with renowned engineer / producer Kevin Vanbergen to help them remaster their catalogue, starting with their studio albums. Using the original ½” production tapes for source material, Kevin has painstakingly worked on them to create brand new, stunning 24-bit masters that perfectly capture the thrill of the originals. They’ve never sounded so good.
Famously working with 4AD’s inhouse designers v23 on every release, album art has always been central to Lush’s appeal too. For these represses, the first two albums will come housed in their original designs while Lovelife uses the art from their 2016 boxset so to keep 1996’s collectible tracing paper sleeve exclusive to that initial pressing.
For these new presses, all three titles are coming out on both classic black vinyl and ultra-clear vinyl – the latter a one-time press.
