DAVID BOWIE The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars (Very rare and highly sought after 1972 first UK pressing 11-track LP, with 'Titanic/Chrysalis' credit on the labels and the all important 1E/1E matrix numbers indicating a true first issue, complete with illustrated lyric inner, picture sleeve. This original pre-dates the Mainman contract & as such has no reference to Mainman anywhere on the sleeve or record label SF8287)

#Top 500 Greatest Albums Of All Timeetails on the background & condition of this rarity...

Tracklisting: Every track on Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars sounds like it was pulled from the rock 'n' roll bible. The album created a mythology that reached beyond the Chuck Berry folklorisms of the everyday rocker to create a new type of rockstar. With Ziggy, Bowie created a viable alter-ego to descend onto the planet and wreak havoc on rock's fertile soil and in doing so, he created the most original rock creation since the music's inception 20 years before. Musically, the album was as inspired as Ziggy's persona. Mick Ronson's snarling guitar evoked the triumphant power of the late '60s guitar heroes, but added a flash so dynamic fans knew why the Spiders were labelled 'glitter rockers'. History & Condition This first issue pre-dates the Mainman contract and as such there are NO Mainman references or logos anywhere on the sleeve or record label. There is a logo on the rear of the sleeve with the text 'A Gem Production' The matrix numbers in the run out groove are: BGBS 0864 -1E & BGBS 0865-1E The black & white lyric inner is in great condition and free of any seam splits. There is just a little light creasing evident & it has obviously been well looked after over the years The label is the original thick orange glossy RCA Victor label and is free of any spindle wear, marks or writing, whilst the vinyl itself is the thick & strong pressing, unlike many later pressings which used Dynaflex vinyl. It shows only light play, on close inspection there are a few light hairlines not affecting play and grades Excellent. The sleeve shows just a little light shelfwear with a bit of edge scuffing and also grades Excellent. An all round superb copy of this genuine first pressing that is becoming increasingly hard to find Tracklisting :- 01. Five Years 02. Soul Love 03. Moonage Daydream 04. Starman 05. It Ain't Easy 06. The inner remains off white & is unsplit, showing very little wear. The picture sleeve shows just a little ageing & includes the original postcard, which completes this rare package. The first press vinyl is nice & clean & in Excellent condition with only a couple of faint paper hairlines and a small paper scuffs to indicate play.
