A FEW OF THE MOST RECENT ITEMS WE WANT...
 | JOHN LENNON & YOKO ONO Unfinished Music No. 1: Two
Virgins (1968 US Tetragrammaton pressed Apple LP, now
classic, but at the time extremely controversial, nude picture
sleeve. This was pressed and distributed by Tetragrammaton
after Capitol refused to release it with this cover. This didn't
stop several States in the US [Porn capital of the world]
impounding over fifty thousand copies and banning the album
sleeve as 'pornographic'. Unwise, maybe, but hardly
pornographic. The protective covering sticker sealed brown
paper bag that came with the first copies probably didn't help
by including a quote from Genesis; "And They Were Both
Naked, The Man And His Wife, And Were Not Ashamed". Still,
all things aside it remains a hard to approach experimental
album &, along with George's 'Electronic Sound', one of the
first experimental albums to be released by a mainstream
artist. The outer bag on this copy has some su fade tp the
edges and the sleeve, being mostly white, does have some
notable foxing, while the vinyl remains Excellent with little
sign of play T-5001) |
 | ANDREW HILL Point Of Departure (1964 US first press 5-track mono
LP on the 'New York USA' address label, with the 'ear' markings & the
'Van Gelder' stamps in the run-outs. This is still one of the ultimate
Blue Note dates that pointed the way tothe future for jazz, with expert
backing from Eric Dolphy, Joe Henderson, Richard Davis & Anthony
Williams. The cover grades VG with light natural discolouring, light
edge scuffing & all text is legible - still with Mecolico import sticker toback. The heavyweight vinyl grades VG+ & displays light cosmetic
wear on both sides but this has little effect on play. A nice example &
as a first issue, this is a must own for the Blue Note collection
