CHARLES MINGUS Pithecanthropus Erectus (1961 second US
issue of the 1956 4-track mono vinyl LP, on the plum & red
Atlantic label with white fan logo to the right, housed in a
beautiful silk laminated heavy duty pasted picture sleeve with
company catalogue inner. This was Mingus' first masterpiece,
with the boundary-pushing title piece,'Profile Of Jackie' & a
wonderfully modern arrangement of Gershwin's 'A Foggy
Day', also starring Jackie McLean (alto), J. R. Monterose
(tenor), MalWaldron (piano) & Willie Jones (drums). Despite a
name & date discreetly penned on the back, the sleeve is
otherwise near mint & the vinyl looks barely touched!)
