LEAF HOUND Growers Of Mushroom (Archive Quality "Dead Stock" 1971 first UK issue 9-track LP, once voted the number one most collectable rock record on the planet by Q Magazine, an incredible progressive masterpiece that was criminally ignored during its lifetime but has since gone on to attain legendary status. Obtained from an ex record shop employee, this very disc was left on the backroom shelves without the picture sleeve since the day of release, & simply never found its customer. As standard record shop practice goes, the actual vinyl discs are often divorced from their sleeves & in this case sometimes never matched at all. This exact copy never did sell in the shop. It never did make its debut on a turntable. It may lack the picture sleeve but what it does have is the original Decca poly bag & the record shop master card sleeve, which is annotated with details of the LP & a rubber stamped '20 Oct 1971' release date; this adds up nicely with the '9-71' manufacturing date printed at the bottom of the poly bag. This shop card sleeve which holds the record even has the 1971 retail price of... wait for it... "£2.19"! We immediately cleaned the record to avoid any reaction to the poly material in the bag [this is ever so faint both sides & purely cosmetic]. We then gave the record its first airing on a turntable, & boy did it sound HUGE. In terms of sound quality, this original Decca disc has no equal. It makes all represses VASTLY inferior, meaning there really isn't any other way to own this as a collector. We are overjoyed to be able to offer you a standalone, original & near 'as new' vinyl copy - minus the sleeve - for this near lost masterpiece. Please 'see more' info for further details...
