FRANK ZAPPA Dog / Meat (Unique 1972 US score for the Oboe part
as HAND WRITTEN by FZ for [I guess] Earl Dumler. Running
across four sheets of stave, as it does, it seems incredible that Frank
actually hand wrote each of the parts for the twenty piece band
arrangements & even more incredible that it still survives in pristine
condition thirty seven years later. The score covers the opening 'Dog
Breath Variations' into 'Uncle Meat'. This manuscript comes from the
personal collection of Marty Perellis, who was the road manager for the
tour & has also been authenticated by David Ocker who, later, became
Zappa's music copyist [1977-1984]. Another one-off piece of history
that, for my money, knocks an autograph into a cocked hat - An FZ
original score TRANSCRIBED PERSONALLY by FZ for a
member of the legendary Grand Wazoo Orchestra - It doesn't get
much better than this!) See 'More Info' ....

FRANK ZAPPA European Tour: April 7th - June 9th (1988 US
printed ring bound tour itinerary for what was to become the
final leg of the ill fated 1988 tour. Frank had fielded one of
the most versatile bands that he had ever taken on the road,
capable of playing anything from his vast back catalogue with
ease and able to dip into a repertiore of intense performances
and change at the flick of a finger from the maestro himself
into any other song of his choosing, whatever tempo or style.
As ably documented in Andrew Greenaway's book 'Zappa The
Hard Way', personal differences between members of the
band and his own fatigue caused Frank to call off what was to
have been the last leg of the tour across the Central and
Western United States. It turned out that the gig on June 9th
in Genoa became the last gig that Frank and his amazing tour
bands ever played. From the personal collection of the late
Doug Lock, what we have here is a hand annotated itinerary
listing the tour retinue, hotels, travel time and venue
information for that critical final leg of the final amazing tour
of 'The Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life')
