THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION Uncle Meat (Incredibly rare 1969
Japanese 28-track double LP, issued as part of the 'World New Rock'
Series. What makes this series remarkable is that they were issued in
a full size die cut slipcase 'obi', each unique to the number in the
series [this was No. 6] with cosmic die cut lettering holes on the front
which reveals the album cover artwork through the letters, with
tracklisting & Japanese biography information on the back. There is
little point is devoting a lot of time to describing the album, suffice to
say that it is a STOCK copy, not promo, and that it is to all
intents and purposes MINT. As you will probably know
already, this album did not sell in huge numbers in Japan, so an
original stock copy is very rare indeed. The cover is stickered that it
contains 'Two LPs and a nifty 12-page book', but the book is not
present. These were the US printed booklets anyway, so are
interchangeable with the US Versions and not unique to the Japanese
issues, so this is not a big deal. The vinyl looks to have been played
very sparingly, probably only once, and there are no spindlemarks on
the two colour 'Steamboat' labels. The all important slipcase obi, so
often missing, torn or otherwise defaced, is in superb EX+ condition.
There is a little age yellowing & a couple of areas of foxing but nothing
to write home about. It is free from ANY writing or tears,
which given the intricate die cut design is nothing short of miraculous.
A couple of the die cut projections have small creases, but that is all.
In twenty five years, we have never seen one of these before, so to
find one in as good, if not better, condition than you will ever find
again is a real treat. This is a staggering discovery & it will take pride
of place in your Uncle Frank collection. Not only that, but it remains a
high point of the original Mothers canon with added Underwoods to
help things along. When an album contains music like the title track,
'King Kong', 'Dog Breath', 'A Pound For A Brown' & 'Mr Green Genes',
how can you fault it? This is priceless and, in this condition, probably
unique SJET-8151~2)
