Tracklisting: Released for the first time on vinyl, Queen’s compilation ‘The Platinum Collection’, featuring all three of their Greatest Hits albums, shows their unrivalled track record of chart-topping, award-winning, record-breaking rock and pop classics. With four songwriters in the band – Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon – Queen created a glorious legacy of all-time anthems that still ring out across the ages. For past and future fans alike, they will rock you! Living up to its name, The Platinum Collection was recently certified by the UK music industry organisation the BPI as having gone 8 x Platinum, representing sales of 2.4 million achieved since its June 2011 re-release as part of Queen’s 40th anniversary celebrations. June 17 will see the limited edition 6LP colour vinyl set released in a slipcase with brand new artwork. Each piece of vinyl will be a different colour and come in its own individually designed sleeve. The set also comes with an exclusive 24-page 12" photo booklet. ‘QUEEN Greatest Hits’, first released in 1981, is the best-selling album of all time in the UK, having sold over 6.8 million copies, with global sales in excess of 25 million. Spanning Queen’s triumphant first act, from 1974 to 1980, ‘Greatest Hits’ includes some of the world’s most beloved rock standards, including the stadium-sized symphonic chart-topper Bohemian Rhapsody and the roof-raising We Are The Champions, which was named the most catchy song of all time by a team of scientists in 2011. But this album also dazzles with its stylistically promiscuous range, from the crowd rousing We Will Rock You, the tongue in cheek Fat Bottomed Girls, the stomp-stomp-stomp late 70’s disco inspired Another One Bites the Dust, to the finger-snapping jukebox retro-rock homage Crazy Little Thing Called Love and the soaring, impassioned, gospel-fired Aretha-isms of Somebody To Love. ‘QUEEN Greatest Hits II’, originally released shortly before Freddie Mercury’s death in 1991, has sold over 19 million copies worldwide. It spans 1981 to 1991, the period which followed Queen having dropped their famous no synthesizers rule elevating them to new heights of creativity. Opening up their guitar-heavy sound to embrace funk, disco and electronics resulted in rich rewards, transforming these former Seventies glam rockers into a glossy, streamlined, emphatically contemporary super-group. Rebooted and rewired, Queen produced some of their most immortal hits during this imperial Eighties phase. Built around an improvised studio jam, their infectious David Bowie collaboration Under Pressure became a global chart-topping smash. The retro-futurist epic Radio Gaga and the humorously romantic I Want To Break Free stand as testaments to their early mastery of synthesizers, while the muscular ripcord riffs of Hammer To Fall and octave-vaulting grand-piano acrobatics of It’s a Hard Life are vintage Queen both sonically and lyrically. Officially the tenth best-selling album of all time in the UK, Greatest Hits 2 also features the tender sentiments of Friends Will Be Friends, the planet-sized synth-rock fanfares of One Vision, and the heroically defiant swan song The Show Must Go On, featuring Freddie in his last days still playing shamelessly to the gallery. ‘QUEEN Greatest Hits III’, rarely available on vinyl, features their latter-day songs, the band members’ solo hits and the band’s collaborations with other artists including Elton John, Montserrat Caballé, George Michael and Wyclef Jean. Undimmed by time or fashion, ‘The Platinum Collection’ is a reminder that Queen were always colourful, always dynamic, always ablaze with passion and pride. THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE Electric Ladyland (First Issue 1968 UK Track label 16-track stereo double vinyl LP, housed in the original laminated gatefold picture sleeve with naked women artwork. #Top 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time
#Top 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time

Tracklisting: ÞÞOn the 25th of October 1968, the musical comet that was Jimi Hendrix was burning at its brightest & this album was released to an eager public. It was hard to believe that it had been just two years since Jimi debuted on Polydor with 'Hey Joe' as the music had evolved so much since those first recordings. This album [like everything after 'Hey Joe'] was issued on Track Records. Later 70s issues went back to the Polydor label imprint. This first issue has a number of differences to even the second Track issue the following year. The sleeve is the UK variant [which Jimi actually disapproved of], featuring a group of naked women, rather than the band itself. We suppose someone in the UK offices thought that 'Electric Ladyland' deserved a cover featuring an imagined 'Ladyland'. Jimi himself had no control over this. The differences between this and the later Track issue :- Sleeve :- The first thing you notice is that it has 'floating' laminate, rather than wraparound, meaning that there is always a small unlaminated section at the opening, top & bottom. Polydor issues were wraparound laminate, with no gap at the edge. Inside, there are more obvious differences. The first, though seldom mentioned, is that the inside portrait & tracklisting are reversed compared to later issues, with Jimi to the right, rather than the left. Once again, the inside has the floating laminate with the small gap at the edges. The pictures of Noel & Mitch are larger than later issues. The text for the tracklisting is centred and in blue print, with the Track logo to the centre, Polydor information & Ernest J. Day printing credit to the left, also in blue. The tracklisting itself also features a mixture of capitalised & lower case letters at the start of each word, with no apparent consistency, eg. 'Rainy day, dream away' but 'Still Raining, Still Dreaming'. The Labels :- These are the familiar silver printed black Track labels but they also have the catalogue number repeated in smaller inverted form in brackets above the main number on the left. Designed for your stacking Autochanger deck, the vinyl has Side A backed with Side D & Side B backed with Side C, for an easy flip over to continue. This practice continued through later vinyl presses and even led to an erroneous track order on the first CD releases with the consequence that 'Still Raining' appeared before 'Rainy Day'! This has finally been corrected on the Experience Hendrix CD release. There is no suffix to 'Come On', 'Burning Of The Midnight Lamp' is prefixed by 'The' & 'Crosstown Traffic' appears as 'Cross Town Traffic'. The Vinyl :- Pressed onto 180gm heavyweight vinyl, this press features what has become known as 'The High-Dynamic Mix', although that's really down to the way the album was mastered. The last character of the matrix information in the run off areas is corrected by hand, where the rest of the matrix information is stamped. Sides B & D are banded, while sides A & C are not. Condition :- This is a very nice one owner copy bought new at the time of release. The sleeve has some inevitable light ring wear & minor crease in the laminate through the ages & there is no writing or tears. The sleeve grades Excellent with bright internal colours and the obvious green tinge to the outer that characterised the first printings. There is a little minor corner scuffing with some light scuffing to the inner gatefold and laminate lift to the centre. Both vinyl discs grade Excellent & have a lovely deep sheen across all four sides that we rarely find. There are some light spindle marks by the centre holes but otherwise both vinyl discs have been carefully handled in their lifetime. One or two faint paper hairlines are detectable which do not affect play. Overall, this is an Excellent example of an increasingly in demand first pressing. 01. And The Gods Made Love 02.
